After 25 years with Skelton Taintor & Abbott, Ron Lebel retired September 30, 2020.
Ron greatly expanded the scope and depth of legal services that the firm offers its family law clients, including counsel and representation in divorces, separations, premarital and postmarital agreements, and other family matters.
In particular, Ron developed expertise in complex and high-conflict divorces that require a depth of financial and valuation acumen as well as close collaboration with experts. These cases often involved marital and non-marital property issues, tracing of assets, and business, commercial, and residential real estate valuation. He regularly participated in mediation as an attorney and has served as a mediator. Ron handled more than 45 appeals in the Supreme Judicial Court of Maine, many of which were in the area of family law and divorce.
His breadth of experience in many areas of the law and his background in general civil litigation gave value to his family law clients. He is an accomplished trial lawyer with substantial experience in areas that intersect with complex divorce, such as real estate, pensions, trusts, wills, business valuation, and corporate and tax law.
Ron also advised and represented parties in real estate, business, government, and probate litigation matters, among many others.
His approach is that the attorney-client relationship is a team, in which each team member has important and significant duties and responsibilities. He believes that hard work as an attorney pays dividends for clients, and he requests that his clients work with him strategically and proactively to obtain the best possible result for the client.
