Rebecca S. Webber to Co-Chair MSBA Labor & Employment Programs

Category: Firm News

AUBURN, Maine – On April 11, Skelton, Taintor & Abbott attorney Rebecca S. Webber is co-chairing the Maine State Bar Association (“MSBA”) Labor & Employment section’s luncheon meeting at Governor Hill Mansion. The event will provide an opportunity to meet with the executive director, chief investigator and the attorney of the Maine Human Rights Commission. Webber, whose practice areas include employment litigation, employment law counseling and compliance and employment law training, conceived of and organized the event.

“It is critical to know and interact with the folks at the state who are making decisions on employment cases and changes in the law and this meeting will do just that,” Webber explained. “The people working at the Commission and the Department of Labor are particularly accessible, and them agreeing to hold this kind of meeting is one reason why it’s nice to practice employment law in Maine.”

In May, Webber will present a program at the Maine HR annual convention, which anticipates sellout attendance of more than 400 participants. She and John Gause, the attorney for the Maine Human Rights Commission, will speak about “Job Applicants and What They Say: TMI Can Hurt You.”

On June 5, Webber will co-chair the 12th Annual Employment Law Update sponsored by the MSBA and the Employment Law Section. This is the annual event on employment law held by the MSBA for all attorneys across Maine and will cover issues affecting employment ranging from discrimination claims to tax issues to ethics to the National Labor Relations Act.
