Michael R. Poulin to Present at Comprehensive Medical Records Seminar

Category: Events

AUBURN, Maine – Skelton, Taintor & Abbott shareholder Michael R. Poulin is one of three leading attorneys to present the day-long seminar “Medical Records Law in Maine” on December 13, 2013 in Portland, Maine.

For three decades, Poulin’s practice has concentrated on areas of hospital and healthcare law and employment law. This includes 30 years as general counsel for a healthcare system that includes three hospitals and more than 300 physicians. He has conducted seminars for hospitals and their clinical and administrative management staff on federal and state medical information law.

Poulin also works with healthcare clients in matters involving licensing and regulatory issues, including compliance with Medicaid, Medicare and Certificate of Need requirements for construction projects and certain capital expenditures. He also advises and represents hospitals in matters connected to physicians, antitrust, reimbursement, contracts, employment, tax exemptions and corporate issues.

With medical records law becoming increasingly complex, organizations must be vigilant about issues of legal liability. Panelists at the Medical Records Law in Maine seminar, which will include coverage of the new HIPAA Omnibus Rule, will share their insights on subjects such as “Overview of General Healthcare Confidentiality Law: Maine Law and HIPAA Privacy Rights”; “Transition to Electronic Medical Records – How Do We Get There from Here?”; and “Responding to Subpoenas, Warrants and Other Third Party Demands for Medical Information”.
