Category: Firm News

Alan G. Stone, Esq and Stephen Wade, Esq., litigation partners with Skelton Taintor and Abbott, this month successfully defended an oral surgeon in a medical malpractice lawsuit. The patient had claimed that the doctor negligently recommended and performed a biopsy procedure and that he failed to obtain informed consent for the procedure. The Plaintiff was seeking over three hundred twenty five thousand dollars in damages. Following an eight day trial, the jury voted unanimously (8-0) in favor of the oral surgeon. The jury deliberations lasted less than an hour. The trial was held in the Kennebec County Superior Court before Justice Joseph Jabar. Sue Turner, a Skelton Taintor & Abbott litigation paralegal assisted Mr. Stone and Mr. Wade in presenting the case before the jury using computer trial software.
